925 Sterling Silver Jewellery Care Instructions
Firstly, what is Sterling Silver?
Sterling Silver is an alloy of several metals with 92.5% by weight of silver and 7,5% by weight of other metals like copper. In the case of jewellery, other metals are added into the mixture to increase the hardness, strength and durability of the metal.
Here at Heidi, we only present to you with the best of 925 Sterling Silver that is not only beautiful in appearance but durable.
Everyday Care
Silver is generally an unreactive metal. However, extra care is needed to maintain the lustre and beauty of the metal.
Sterling silver tarnishes when exposed to salty air, chlorine, sulfur, humidity, perspiration, cosmetics, bleach and other strong chemicals. To prevent tarnish as much as possible, we recommend to keep your jewellery in a cool, dry place when involved in the following activities:
- Swimming in pools
- Bathing
- Showering
- Exercising
- Household chores
- Food preparation
Cleaning your Heidi Sterling Silver
You can clean it in a number of ways but the one that we recommend is to use one part water with two parts baking soda to make a paste. Rub the mixture gently onto the jewellery and let the paste dry completely before rinsing. Dry the jewellery with a soft cloth or microfibre towel.
